Lock Beam: your Lock Screen, made by your people

Lock Beam is a little social app that lives on your Lock Screen. Your partner sends "back by 8 ♥", your best friend doodles on your screen, your group shares one Lock Screen for the weekend, and it's all there the next time you pick up your phone. It's with App Store review now.

We look at our Lock Screens dozens of times a day, and almost nothing on them comes from the people we love. Lock Beam changes that.

You make something on your own screen and beam it. A photo goes on as a little print or a stamp, a note goes on in your own handwriting, and you can finish it with foil or a wax seal. It lands on their real Lock Screen in seconds. Or pick a time, and they wake up to it at seven.

It's made for small circles: a couple, best friends, a family, the four of you planning movie night at Sam's. A group can share one Lock Screen and add to it together, and you can make matching screens that change at the same time. When you beam to one person, you never see their screen, only what you sent.

Apple doesn't give apps a way to change someone's wallpaper, so getting a note onto a friend's Lock Screen at all took real problem solving. We're glad we kept at it.

Next: channels

The Lock Screen is the most looked-at screen we own, and so far only one person gets to decide what's on it. Channels open it up. Anyone will be able to publish one, an artist with living art that changes through the day, a team, a family, a favourite brand, and you'll subscribe with a tap and unsubscribe just as easily. You stay in charge of what lands on your screen.

Projects, press or anything else.
